The United States defeated Puerto Rico last week in Los Angeles to claim the nation’s first World Baseball Championship Title.

Largely due to pitcher Marcus Stroman, who threw six hit-less innings, USA managed to not only fend off, but to blow-out Puerto Rico 8-0. This came as a crushing blow to runner-up Puerto Rico, who was a major hopeful.

Star players of the game included USA’s Ian Kinsler, who started the third inning off with a two-run drive to center field. Christian Yelich and Andrew McCutchen each drove in a run in the fifth.

In the seventh inning, Brandon Crawford had a two-run RBI single, which was followed by Giancarlo Stanton’s own RBI. McCutchen brought home Team USA’s final run of the night in the eighth.
