The chess team has had a tremendous season so far, according to Mr. Purathur, team coach.

The team’s first game was close, but the team has since won another match by a much larger margin.

“The team is looking forward to playing Saint Ignatius, a power house team, along with Brother Rice, and Mount Carmel,” said Mr. Purathur.

The team had held the record for highest score in a match –50, until last week when Saint Ignatius took the title. The team plays Ignatius Nov. 14.

According to Mr. Purathur, “The team lost some talented players this year but, new players are helping this team hit their stride”.

“Our new players are still figuring out the nuances of the game, but with each match, we are getting stronger as a team,” said Mr.Purathur.
