The basketball team fell to Proviso East on last month in the regional semifinal game by a score of 43-30.

Chris Lara, ’18,  led the Shamrocks in scoring with 14 points.

This comes after a huge win in the first round of the state playoffs against Juarez Academy. This marks the end to the Shamrocks’ season.

The Shamrocks finished the season with a record of 15-13 (5-4 in ESCC) and fifth place in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.

They had key victories  against number 10 ranked Marian Catholic with a game winning buzzer beater by Lara  and a huge overtime win against Notre Dame in Niles.

Lara and Austin Freeman, ‘19, were the all-conference selections for ESCC.

Freeman was also selected to the All Defensive team along with Jakob Medina, ‘19.

Joe fanning, ‘20, and Dominic Galati, ‘20, were varsity players selected as all conference honorable mentions.

Fanning said, “The season didn’t go as we planned, but overall it was very fun.”

This young basketball squad has a bright future ahead. Four of the five starters from the 2017-18 season will be returning next year.

Fanning said, “We all need to work harder and keep grinding for next season to reach our goal, which is state.”
