Baseball, volleyball gear up for season

Both baseball and volleyball players have begun practicing for the upcoming Spring season.

The baseball team has been preparing for the season with Sunday night workouts.

Last year’s team “made a nice run in the playoffs,” said Michael Crawford, ’19, “but fell short.”

This year’s team is “very solid”, said Sam Correa,’19. “The core group of guys we have this year are awesome.”

The goal for the team is to make it into the playoffs, said Correa.

The Shamrocks begin their season at 5 p.m. March 13 against Whitney Young at Kerry Wood Field.


In addition, the volleyball team finished its tryouts this week.

The team finish second in the sectional tournament last year.

Co-Captain Frank Mott,’18, said that the team is looking for a rebound year after the loss to Oak Park River Forest High School last year.

“We have a great coaching staff and talented players,” said captain Brett Rosenbusch,’18. “We just have to have a keen focus on fundamentals.”

The team begins its season at home against Von Steuben at 6 p.m. March 21.
