During Spring break, Chris Modrzejewski, ‘18, tried out for the Polish soccer team Wisla.

Wisla is currently in the top half of Poland’s highest professional soccer league Ekstraklasa.

Because this was merely an unofficial tryout, Modrzejewski’s main goal was to gain experience; although, he believes he was one of the better players there.

According to Modrzejewski, Wisla’s style of play is a lot faster than he’s used to, and their passing is “clean and crisp”.

Sebastian Modrzejewski, ‘20, Chris’s brother, said the tempo of European soccer is “a lot quicker, and the atmosphere seems different – a positive attitude”.

Herbert Carrera, ‘19, said, “Soccer is taken more seriously in Poland; they train two times a day”.

Chris said if he is up to it, in two months, he will attend another tryout for the Polish team Pogon Szczecin, also in Ekstraklasa. If that doesn’t work out, he will mostly likely attend Triton College next year.
