On January 11th, the Saint Patrick varsity bowling team set out for their conference championship. The competition was looking strong with Notre Dame and Brother Rice leading the push against St. Pat’s in the first two games of the day.

The varsity team struggled barely breaking 900 both games sitting in third place with Notre Dame in first. Going into the last game of the first half Head Coach Dave Habetler stepped in and said, “ You are all better than this. The coaches know it, now you gotta show these other teams.” Varsity finished the last game with 1,014 pins led by Bobby Habetler ’22 and Nathan Emperado ’20 who both finished that game over 200.

At the start of the second half, St. Pat’s went on a roll stepping up and taking back the lead coming back from third place. Going into the baker games the team continued their dominance getting second and making it to the championship round.

Brother Rice took on St. Pat’s for the championship, taking the first game putting up a 220 plus game. St. Pat’s came back barely winning the second game meaning it would have to go to a third game to determine a winner. St. Pat”s came out hot and Brother Rice struggled leaving open frame after open frame. After a rally started by Jack Schnoebelen ’22 and Emperado, the Shamrocks put the nail in the coffin and came out on top.

The Shamrocks won two of the three games winning the conference championship.
