Antonio Iglesias ’22 is the founder and member of the newest club here at Saint Patrick High School – the E-Sports Club. The E-Sports Club is run by Antonio as well as moderator and teacher Coach Sergio Muro. This club is part of the Illinois High School Esports Association (IHSEA) and play against other Esports teams in Illinois.

The school has the option to play in the current five approved games for the IHSEA; League of Legends, Overwatch, Fortnite, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Currently, there are two standing teams for League of Legends and Fortnite. However, in addition to these clubs, teams can play games such as Rainbow Six Siege that are not yet approved by the IHSEA.

Meetings are held over the chat server called Discord, which is essentially a messaging application. In person meetings are also held when needed. For example, before upcoming tournaments and events.

There are two levels of commitment for the club. The first level consists of members who attend practices with other players and can communicate with the team, but cannot commit to being in tournaments. The second level is comprised of members who attend practices and communicate regularly with the other players for that game and also participate in tournaments.

There are no tryouts for each the various teams and games and it is free to join the club. All are welcome to join and play any of the games. Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Antonio Iglesias through his school email address at [email protected]
