Shamrocks surge to 5-1 in conference

Shamrock hoops is on a five-game winning streak heading into tomorrow night’s game at Notre Dame. The Shamrocks winning spree began on January 17th with a 61-42 rout over Saint Viator followed by two key conference wins over Joliet Catholic (60-49) on the road and Marist (49-43) at home. In addition, the Shamrocks notched two non-conference wins over Wheeling and Conant. The Shamrocks, 17-5 (5-1 in conference play), are in second place in the ESCC. Notre Dame sits atop the conference with a 22-3 record (6-0 in conference play) and are ranked #4.

The ‘Rocks beat Marist this past Friday, January 31st with clutch free throws from point guard Caleb Corro ‘21 to seal the win. Corro hit the free throws late in the 4th quarter to cap off a 14 point night.

Starting center Joe Fanning ‘20 made his season debut after an injury in Week 2 of the football season and scored 6 points in his first game back.

Nick Cioffi ‘20 also made his first appearance since January 7th in Friday’s game. “It feels great to be back on the court after being sidelined for three weeks,” the senior captain said. “With the addition of Joe Fanning, we know we can be even more special. Notre Dame is very good, but so are we. I am very excited to play them. Our guys are ready for war.”
