Shamrock Cross Country Runs Well Despite Tough Schedule

The Saint Patrick Cross Country Team ran well this week despite having to run two meets in three days. On Saturday, In the Johnny Guldan Invitational meet at Marist, Emmett Leyden ‘22 impressed in the Junior Varsity meet with a time of 21:16. Alexander Melnik ‘24 and Cameron Mescall ‘24 both impressed, coming in 5th and 6th place, respectively.

In the varsity meet, Liam MacLellan ‘23 was the first Shamrock in, finishing in 7th place with a time of 17:20. Captain Aidan Lewis ‘21 added another top ten finish to his resume, finishing in 10th with a time of 17:49. The other captain Josh Esquilin ‘21 finished in 12th place with a time of 18:07.

The Shamrocks hosted the Saint Patrick Invitational on Tuesday at Schiller Woods, where the team finished in 4th place. MacLellan once again ran well, finishing in 11th with a time of 17:29. Juan Celio ‘21 made his return to the team running a 17:59, which was good enough for 17th place.

The next time the Shamrocks run will be the ESCC Conference Championship meet on October 17th.
