The Cross Country team had a great season this year, achieving team and individual success. Head Coach Rob Iliff and captains Aidan Lewis ‘21 and Josh Esquilin ‘21 did a terrific job leading their team to the IHSA 2A Sectional Meet. Along the path to the Sectional Meet was a fantastic performance by the team at the IHSA 2A Regional Meet, where all seven of the team’s runners ran personal records (PR’s), and Saint Patrick finished 5th as a team. Liam MacLellan ‘23 and Juan Celio ‘21 led the team to a 12th place finish in the IHSA 2A Sectional Meet.

Even though the State Championship Meet was cancelled, every runner who would have qualified for state was invited to the ShaZam Cross Country Club Championships Meet. MacLellan was invited to participate in the meet and, despite a brutal course made mostly of sand, still managed an impressive time of 18:28. For his outstanding performance this season, MacLellan was awarded ESCC All-Conference.
